What Is Disability Pride Month?
Disability Pride Month is celebrated every July & recognises the achievements, experiences, contributions & identities of people living with disabilities!
The month serves as an opportunity to challenge stereotypes, increase awareness & promote inclusion across workplaces, schools, communities, and industries.
Disability Pride encourages people to view disability not as something to be hidden, but as an important part of human diversity!
The movement promotes acceptance, accessibility, equal opportunities & representation.
Around the world, Disability Pride Month is marked through community events, educational campaigns, advocacy initiatives & conversations that help increase understanding.
While significant progress has been made.. many barriers still exist for people with disabilities, including challenges related to employment, healthcare, education, transportation & accessibility (& if you live in Australia, recent cuts to the NDIS system need that awareness & progress now more than ever).
By supporting awareness initiatives and learning more about disability inclusion, individuals and businesses alike can contribute to positive change.
Disability Pride Month reminds us that every person deserves to be seen, valued & included.
